Burnham-On-Sea War Memorial Hospital

A warm welcome awaits you at Burnham-On-Sea War Memorial Hospital.

The hospital is a classic community hospital, having served the community for nearly 100 years.  The hospital was extensively refurbished six years ago, and is described by staff as offering the best of both worlds – the benefit of retaining the history and tradition of the hospital, whilst having updated modern facilities.

The reception area of the ward is light, airy and welcoming.  There is plenty of information about the ward, its performance, the community support and any other services or help that may be available.  The ward also celebrates its “CHA National Award for Innovations and Best Practice” from the Community Hospitals Association, which is on display.  The ward has 20 beds which offer much-appreciated inpatient care such as rehabilitation for older people before they return home.  Patients are also able to receive palliative care and end of life care on the ward.

A long list of regular clinics held are displayed in the outpatient waiting area, which is very convenient for patients.  Patients can also attend for physiotherapy, and there is a dentist onsite.  A minor injuries clinic serves residents and visitors to the area.

The hospital benefits from the support given by the community, and particularly through the Friends of the hospital.  The “Friends of Burnham-On-Sea War Memorial Hospital” had its Golden Anniversary this year, and to mark this they have provided the hospital with a “Golden Garden.”  The Friends are proud of their achievements of having raised over £2 million since their inception.  For more information please go to the Friends website

Burnham community hospital is clearly a valued part of the community.
